about me

Hi, I’m Delhia Allen, MA, LMFT (CA #85885) — a licensed therapist and coach based in San Diego, California.

I help thoughtful, self-aware adults untangle the emotional roots of anxiety, depression, trauma, and burnout — using a nervous system–informed approach that centers safety, compassion, and sustainable change.

Over the past decade, I’ve supported people in a wide range of settings — from community mental health and county psychiatric hospitals to private practice. My work has always been about helping people feel safe enough to slow down, make sense of what’s happening inside, and reconnect to themselves after long periods of survival.

Before opening my private practice, I worked as a Licensed Mental Health Clinician at San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital, providing trauma-informed individual and group therapy and supervising associate clinicians toward licensure. I’ve also supported women experiencing homelessness at Rachel’s Women’s Center, and clients navigating addiction recovery at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and HAART Oakland.

These experiences taught me that healing isn’t linear — and that change begins with regulation, not self-criticism.

I’m certified in EMDR, Financial Social Work, and Telehealth & Anxiety Treatment, and draw from CBT, DBT, somatic awareness, and trauma-focused modalities to meet each client where they are.

My approach is gentle, direct, and grounded in the body. I believe therapy should help you feel safe in your own skin, build capacity to handle life’s uncertainty, and reconnect you with what feels meaningful.
